40–42 cm Male longicauda: Red and dark bill, reddish-pink head sides/nape, deep green crown, broad black malar band, very pale
blue-green mantle, pale turquoise back; long purplish-blue tailstreamers (undertail dull olive). Blackish underwing with yellow
coverts. Female: Darker green above, green nape, dull brown
bill, dark green malar band, shorter tail-streamers; reddish-pink
on supercilium.Juvenile: Plainer/greener; pinkish face, dull
malar band. Male tytleri(Coco Is): <49 cm, brighter crown,
flame-red head-sides, nape as mantle, darker green below.
Turquoise and green tail, turquoise-green underwing-coverts.Female: Brighter crown than longicauda, paler head-sides,
green supercilium. VOICE High, rather melodious pee-yo pee-yo
pee-yo.., nasal quavering graak graak graak, scolding cheet
notes. HABITAT More open lowland broadleaved evergreen forest,
clearings, plantations, mangroves. RANGE Fc/co R (local movements), Coco Is (S Myanmar), Pen Malaysia, Singapore.
