44–52 cm Adult indus: Bright cinnamon-rufous, narrowly streaked
whitish hood/breast; black wing-tips.Juvenile: Smaller
than Black, warmer; shorter rounded tail, less streaked;
shorter, broader wings, plain buffish-white on underside of primaries. Other subspecies H.i.intermedius(south Tenasserim
and south Thailand southwards): Tends to have narrower
streaks on hood/breast. VOICE Stressed thin note, then hoarse
gasping: tsss, herhehhehhehhehheh... Drawn-out mewing
kyeeeer or kyerrh. HABITAT & BEHAVIOUR Coastal areas, large
lakes, rivers; mostly lowlands. Scavenges around harbours.

Laos). FR (currently?) C Laos. Rc (status?) N Laos.
