GREY-HEADED FISH EAGLE
69–74 cm Adult ichthyaetus: Plain greyish hood, sharply contrasting white thighs and vent, rounded white tail with broad black
terminal band. Greyish-brown above, mostly warm brown to
brownish-grey breast. In flight, wings rather broad/rounded,
white tail-base and vent contrast with all-dark wings.Juvenile: Mostly warm brownish head/neck/breast/upper belly
with narrow white supercilium and whitish streaks on crown,
head-sides and foreneck/breast; browner-tinged above than
adult, dark tail with whitish mottling showing as faint pale bands.
In flight, underwing-coverts mostly whitish, flight feathers mostly whitish with darker tips and some faint narrow darker bars
towards their tips. Immature plumages poorly documented.Second/third year: Whitish patches on primaries, white thighs
and vent, dark end to tail. VOICE During courtship display utters
powerful barking kroi-ork and repeated loud eerie tiuweeeu. HABITAT & BEHAVIOUR Lakes, swamps, large rivers; up to
1,525 m. Soars with wings held level or in shallow V. RANGE Ra/sc

Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia (still widespread), N,S Laos,
Vietnam (except E Tonkin). FR (currently?) NW,C Thailand, E
