28.5 cm Adult perpulchra: Dark chestnut head/belly, white throat and breast, turquoise above, chestnut and black coverts; whitish wing-patch. Juvenile: Duller above, dark-vermiculated throat and breast, browner bill. VOICE Whinnying klililililili territorial call. Shrill staccato, descending laughter: chake ake ake ake-ake-ake... HABITAT Open habitats, cultivation; up to 1,525 m. RANGE Co R (some dispersive movements) throughout.
