69 cm Male albirostris: White belly and vent, white facial markings, pale yellowish bill and casque with dark markings; black wings with broad white trailing edge, black tail with broadly white-tipped outer feathers.Female: Bill and casque smaller, more extensively dark distally. Juvenile: Plain bill and very small casque, less white on tail.Male convexus (extreme S Thailand southwards): Mostly white outertail (tail often looks white from below). VOICE Loud yelping kleng-keng kek-kekkek-kek-kek and ayip-yip-yip-yip.. etc. HABITAT & BEHAVIOUR Broadleaved evergreen and mixed deciduous forest, island forest, secondary growth, plantations, gardens; up to 1,400 m (below 150 m S Thailand southwards). In flocks, sometimes quite large. RANGE Un/lc R (except C Thailand); rare Singapore.
