12 cm. Grey hood, bright yellowish below.Juvenile: Browner hood, duller above, paler below. Other subspecies C.c.antioxantha (southern Tenasserim, W[south] and S Thailand southwards): Darker head/breast, less bright green above, less bright yellow belly. VOICE Song is brief sharp wittu-wittu-wit; chuit-it-ui or witti-wuti etc. Calls with sharp metallic trills and twitters. HABITAT & BEHAVIOUR Broadleaved forest; migrants also in parks, gardens, mangroves. Up to 3,050 m (mainly breeds above 650 m), below 1,280 m Pen Malaysia. Often in bird-waves; sallies from perch.
