17 cm Male lunatus: Greyish-brown above, greyish-white below, black supercilium.Female: Thin whitish necklace.Male rubropygius(SW,W,N Myanmar): Grey crown to mantle, dark grey supercilium, less blue on wing. Female: Necklace broken in centre. Other subspeciesS.l.rothschildi(extreme S Thailand southwards): Greyer crown/head-sides/throat/breast, more rufous chestnut back to uppertail-coverts and tertials. S.l.elisabethae (E Myanmar, NE,SE Thailand, northern Indochina); impavidus (S Laos); stolidus(southern Tenasserim, northern S Thailand). VOICE Melancholy pee-uu (uu lower). Staccato trilled kitikitikit... HABITAT Broadleaved evergreen forest; 50–2,230 m. RANGE Un/lc R (except C Thailand, Singapore, Cochinchina).
