25–28.5 cm Adult laoensis: Blackish-brown, buffy bib, dull reddish bill with greyish tip.Juvenile: Browner; paler bill. Other subspecies C.s.sumatranus (extreme S Thailand southwards). VOICE 6–8 shrill upward-inflected thin whistles: hi-ky-ui ky-ui ky-ui.. or ky-ee ky-ee ky-ee ky-ee... Shrill thin falling pseeoo and piercing high tsiu; sometimes repeated quavering ch wit in flight. HABITAT Broadleaved forests; up to 1,220 m. RANGE Un R S Myanmar, Tenasserim, Thailand (except C), Pen Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam (except W,E Tonkin).
