29 cm Adult badius: Dark-framed buffy discs, rudimentary eartufts, rufescent above with sparse black and white marks, pinkish-buff below with sparse spots, mainly golden-buff nape and
scapulars. Other subspecies P.b.saturatus (W,N Myanmar?):
Brown parts darker. VOICE Eerie upward-inflected whistles, rising
then fading: oo hlii hoo hu-i-li hu-i-li hu-i-li hu-i-li.
HABITAT & BEHAVIOUR Broadleaved evergreen forest, plantations,
edge of mangroves; up to 1,220 m, rarely 2,200 m. Often low
down on vertical stems. RANGE Un R (except W,C Myanmar, C
Thailand, Singapore, W Tonkin, S Annam). Frc Singapore.
