30 cm Adult laeta: Large dark bill, broad eyestripe above large yellow patch on lower head-side, pale throat. Juvenile: Duller yellow on lower head-side. VOICE Male territorial call is loud, rather deep tehoop-tehoop-tehoop-tehoop-tehoop... Also a repeated, long, low-pitched trill on one note, gradually slowing and eventually breaking up into 3–4 note phrases. HABITAT Broadleaved evergreen forest; up to 1,065 m, occasionally to 1,525 m.
