23 cm Male mystacophanos: Yellow forehead, red crown, red throat, blue cheeks. (b) Female: Mostly greenish head, red patches on lores, hindcrown and upper breast-side. Juvenile: Green head with yellower forehead and throat. VOICE Male utters slow series of 1–2 (or 3) deep notes at uneven intervals: chok..chok-chok..chok..chok-chok..chok... Also a repeated high-pitched trill, which gradually shortens. HABITAT Broadleaved evergreen forest; up to 760 m. RANGE Co R south Tenasserim, S Thailand, Pen Malaysia.
