CHESTNUT-HEADED BEE-EATER


Location : Ipoh , Perak

21.5 cm Adult leschenaulti: Chestnut crown/mantle, blue rump and uppertail-coverts, square tail, yellow throat, chestnut and black gorget.Juvenile: Mostly green crown/mantle, some chestnut on hindcrown/nape, faint gorget, paler below. Other subspecies M.l.andamanensis(Coco Is): Rear mask dull chestnut, some chestnut on upper breast-side. VOICE Bubbling prruuip or djewy etc., airy chewy-chewy-chewy. HABITAT Open broadleaved forests (often along rivers), forest edge and clearings, coastal scrub, mangroves, sometimes plantations; up to 1,830 m. RANGE Fc/co R (some movements) south to northern Pen Malaysia (except C[southern] Thailand, E Tonkin, N Annam). Un BV C(southern) Thailand, southern Pen Malaysia.
